Get started with the Prince’s Trust
The Prince’s Trust are working with some key national employers representing a range of sectors to offer opportunities for young Londoners (16-25) who are currently NEET. Working in partnership, the aim is to offer the chance for young people to enhance their employability by:
- meeting new people
- learning new skills and gaining experience
- improving their confidence
The programme starts with a taster day which takes place on the employer’s premises and is then followed by a work experience opportunity for young people keen to engage. Employers who have offered this type of employability opportunity include ASOS, Creative Sports and Leisure, GAP, Govia Thameslink Railway, HSBC, ISS Facilities Management, L’Oreal, Marriott Hotel Group, NBC Universal and Zara.
One of the NEET young people being supported through the YES project went on the Zara Taster Day on 7th November and was then fortunate to be able to undertake a work placement at the flagship store in London the following week. The organisation were so impressed with her customer service skills and attitude to work that they offered her a permanent position as a Sales Assistant in the menswear department.
Prince’s Trust have a number of similar opportunities planned for 2018 and BEBP will be promoting these to relevant young people.
