Introduction
Who Are We?
The Bromley Mentoring Initiative (BMI) is part of the London Borough of Bromley (LBB) and was formed in 1999 to provide a multi-agency and borough-wide approach to mentoring for children and young people. Our volunteer mentors offer support and develop trusting relationships with young people who may be experiencing difficulties in their lives and want to make a change.
What do we do?
We coordinate a number of mentoring programmes aimed at making a difference to a young person’s life. We recruit, train and support our volunteers throughout their mentoring journey. Referrals are accepted from a variety of agencies such as schools, LBB Social Care teams, Bromley Youth Services and CAMHS.
What do our mentors do?
Whether our mentors are engaging in activities or discussing goals, they offer motivation, guidance and encouragement. This helps to build their mentee’s confidence, resilience and to develop the tools they may need for a positive future.
