Experiencing the world of work
Bromley EBP has supported Bromley Trust Academy by sourcing work experience placements for a group of their year 10 students. The students spent one week at local employers from Monday 19th to Friday 23rd March.
Max Mulcahy, the Work Experience Placement Coordinator, organised placements in a wide range of sectors including: Headmasters (Salon), Bromley Vehicle Test Centre, Chislehurst Road Garage, Penge Community Pre School and Sainsbury’s. The students were tasked with organising interviews with the employers prior to the placements and were monitored on a daily basis.
Max visited the students at their placements on their last day to undertake evaluations and gain feedback. One of the students, who spent a week with Chislehurst Road Garage, described his placement as ‘one of the best weeks of his life’ and would ‘recommend work experience to everyone’!
The students received valuable experience and most importantly enjoyed their first foray into the world of work. They have a greater understanding of their capabilities and of their future career ideas. Thanks to the employers that kindly hosted placements.
