What's it like to work in Health & Social Care?
The health and social care sector is a major employer, with four million people working in the industry across the UK, including a high proportion of females and part-time workers.
The childcare industry is facing a recruitment crisis with not enough child carers to fill the jobs. This, and the replacement demand of those retiring, combined with the sector’s social and economic importance, means there are great employment opportunities for young people in the sector.
This one-day work related learning event delivered by Bromley EBP on 2nd October 2018 aimed to support 75 students undertaking a health and social care course at KS5. The programme included inter-active workshops delivered by a range of professionals working in the sector with the aim of supporting the curriculum and promoting career opportunities.
We are extremely grateful to all our providers who volunteered to deliver workshops and presentations at the event. They included the HR Department, Early Years and Bromley Children Project from the London Borough of Bromley – as well as Caremark UK, Access for Living and Rainbow Day Nursery.
The feedback from all the young people and teachers was very positive and a number of young people said the event had helped them with their future career choice.
