Employers help young people with their Next Steps
A range of local and national employers and BEBP Community Volunteers gave up their time on Friday 8th February to support young people at the Next Steps employability event. The aim of the session held at the Central Library in Bromley was to help the young people, who may have more barriers than most, to be better prepared for their transition to the world of work. Mentor Support Meeting
We welcomed Dr Ben Wellens to our recent mentor support meeting in November. Ben is a clinical psychologist with 10 years’ experience working in south east London with young people from infancy through to early adulthood. He has worked in community Child Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) teams as well as specialist services for children experiencing abuse and neglect, looked after and adopted children, children with autism and ADHD and those involved in the criminal justice system. He gave a fascinating talk and mentors had the opportunity to ask questions. Focus on Employer - Mytime Active
Bromley EBP is delighted to have re-engaged with Mytime Active and be working in partnership to help and support young people in Bromley. They have been involved in both our recent annual summer Jobs Fairs at the Central Library in Bromley for young people looking for employment. They brought along ‘live’ vacancies in a range of sectors within the leisure centre and spent time explaining more about the different jobs. Employees from Mytime Active have also given up their time to help support employability events coordinated by BEBP for students from local sixth forms and also in schools. Taking their Next Steps
38 sixth form students from Darrick Wood School came along to the Library in Bromley on Wednesday 28th November to meet representatives from local and national employer organisations. The aim of the event was to help improve their employability skills and transition to the workplace as they had indicated to their school their intention not to go onto University once they finish their studies. Thanks to all our employers and business ambassadors who gave up their time to help including Thackray Williams, Department for Work and Pensions and London SE Colleges.
